Gender Sensitization Cell

The institution is well prepared to handle and respond to gender sensitive issues and provide an environment where men and women can work together with a sense of personal security and dignity. For this purpose the institute has setup gender sensitization cell in March 2019. The cell engrosses the awareness about gender issues and working towards and creating an enabling environment of gender justice.

Objective of Gender Sensitization cell

  • To make the young boy’s and girl’s gender sensitive and create positive values that supports the girls and their rights.
  • To provide overall guidance to the peer group in integrating/mainstreaming gender in all activities of the Institution in the form of focused group discussions, debates, poster making competitions etc.
  • To provide an integrated and interdisciplinary approach to understand the social and cultural constructions of gender that shapes the experiences of women and men in society.
  • To generate the awareness in regard to equality in law, social system and democratic activities.

Gender Sensitization cell Activities

3-days Women Self Defense Training Program at Chouksey Group

The Gender Sensitization Cell of Chouksey Group of Colleges,Bilaspur organized a 3-day training program on “Women Self Defense” in collaboration with NGO- “Wisdom Tree Foundation” on January 15-17, 2020 to highlight the need of women safety and security. Over 2000 girl students from different school of bilaspur regions and our institution students attended this self defense programme. The main tricks of self defense such as escaping a wrist grip and an uncomfortable hand grabbing from behind were demonstrated. The trainers also showed the method of using safty pins, dupattas, bag, purse and different accessories for self defense.

Dr Palak Jaiswal is the founder of Wishdom Tree Foundation.The foundation works in many areas such as woman empowerment, litracy, cleaness and overall development of society. During this program home minister of CG state Shri Tamradhwaj Sahu,MP Arun Saw,MLA Dr Shailesh Pandey,Deputy Commissioner Ms. Fariha Alam Siddhiqui was the guest of this program. All guest appreciated the effort of Gender sensitization Cell, Chouksey Group of Colleges for organizing such self defense programmes for the girls.
